About Ā· Our story

One simple idea, a whole city of readers.

Miami Book Bridge was founded by Ella Brandt with one simple idea: collect gently used books from homes, schools, and libraries across Miami and get them into the hands of people who need them.

Our core mission has always been about access: bringing stories directly to youth and families who might not otherwise have the opportunity or means to get them. Through book drives, community pickups, partner donations, and mini-library installations, a youth-led effort has grown into a community-wide one.

ā€œEvery book that you no longer need can become someone’s escape, comfort, or new beginning.ā€Ella Brandt, Founder (from our first Instagram post)
  1. Ella introduces Miami Book Bridge: ā€œLet’s build bridges, one book at a time.ā€
  2. Featured in Upper Eastside Living and Miami Shores Living; summer drive at the Scott Rakow Youth Center; books reach young readers in The Bahamas with EEO.
  3. Libraries stocked at Legion Park and the Belafonte TACOLCY Center, plus 1,000 books to Bookleggers.
  4. A new drive with One SMILE at a Time Special Olympics, sending books to Africa in December.
